Voriconazole is a broad-spectrum triazole antifungal agent primarily used for progressive, potentially life-threatening infections in immunocompromised patients. Indications include: severe fungal infections in immunosuppressed individuals; acute invasive aspergillosis (most commonly caused by Aspergillus fumigatus, followed by A. flavus, A. niger, and A. terreus); severe invasive infections due to fluconazole-resistant Candida species (including C. krusei); and serious infections caused by Scedosporium spp. and Fusarium spp.
